The '53 Blackguard stands for a clearly defined and transparent tone with extremely fast response, which is largely due to the use of AlNiCo 3 magnets. These magnets add an acoustic component to the guitar's sound and redub the biting character otherwise known and expected from AlNiCo 5 equipped pickups.
With these '53 Blackguard pickups, you'll dive deep into the sonic world of the early Blackguard era, as the specs are based on analysis of a '52 and a '53 set.
The neck pickup comes standard with a nickel silver cap, but is also available with a brass cap upon request. The brass cap (original) does provide a mellow jazzy sound because it dampens the high frequencies, similar to a tone pot, but this treble damping caused by the brass cap cannot be turned off - so the treble is always damped.
In the middle position, the set works hum-free (standard) because the bridge pickup is designed reversed.
If you prefer the historically correct variant, we will gladly build your bridge pickup non-reversed.
