As the name suggests, the Spirit of 59 embodies the spirit of the mystical late 50s humbucker. Many analyses and repairs of original pickups culminated in the concept for this pickup, which represents one possible interpretation of this legend.

The Spirit has an incredibly fast response and a "smacky" attack. Many components in the right dosage contribute to the unique sound result of the Spirit of 59.

For example, the coils are wound relatively loosely by hand (scatter wound) and NOT potted in wax. The result is an extremely transparent and dynamic sound without unnecessary capacitive resistances, which otherwise often appear as high-frequency and dynamic killers.

Another highlight of the Spirit of 59 is the use of an authentic AlNiCo IV magnet, which was so crucial in shaping the sound of the humbuckers of that period. The AlNiCo IV magnet increases definition (the sound seems more acoustic) and enhances the low frequencies, giving the sound more fullness.

The neck pickup sounds powerful, extremely defined, and clear.

The bridge pickup is moderately overwound and is around 8.4 kΩ.

Both pickups are wound with the historically correct #42 plain enamel wire.
